How much is too much?

If it's over 400 pages without pictures, I run away screaming.
If it's over 500 pages, but I love the story, it's too damn short.
If it's over 600 pages, no matter how good, I think, "She needs an editor."
If it's over 700 pages, and it's not the bible or other religious guide, I use it for a doorstop.
Pages? Who notices the number of pages? I only notice the writing.
If it affects the book's price, I might have to reconsider making the purchase.
Pages of what?
Mmmm, me love pages. Yum yum. Pass the salt please.

I don't notice length at all if the story is good - the only time it bothers me is when the book is too heavy for me to carry around with me.
